Naomi Matsuda
Profile
Naomi Matsuda was born in Okinawa, Japan in 1980 and studied vocal music at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts under Tomoko Nakamura and Uwe Heilmann.Matsuda has won prizes including the 2nd prize (1st prize none) at the 11th Japan Classical Music Competition, the 1st prize at the 2nd International Nagakute Opera Competition and the Grand Prix at the 9th Okiden Sugarhall Competition and Debut Concert.
In November 2003, Matsuda appeared as a soloist on the program ¡ÈMasterpiece Recital¡É on NHK FM. In 2004 and 2005, she performed at the NHK New Year Opera Concert under the baton of Myung-Whun Chung. In March 2005, she made her opera debut in ¡ÈCarmen¡É as Micaela under Myung-Whun Chung in Toyama, Japan.
Matsuda has had auditions for C. Abbado, A. Pappano, and Gary Bertini so far and has received high evaluation. In March 2004, she took private lessons with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf in Austria. Currently living in Germany, she studies at Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts under Uwe Heilmann.
