Born in Kagoshima,Japan.She studied first of all at the College of Music in her home country, and then began her study at the Music Akademy in Detmold under Prof. Helmut Kretschmar. Ms.Nakamura won the prizes at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich and at the Mozart International Competition in Salzburg.
Already in her studies she appeared on different stages, and then in 1985 she became permanent ensemble member of the Staatsoper in Stuttgart, where she sang among others Konztanze in Morzarts ¡ÈEntfuhrung aus dem Serail¡É and Donna Anna in ¡ÈDon Giovanni¡É. Her present repertoire includes Pamina, Konstaze, Dona Anna, Micaela, and Violetta ¡ÈLa Traviata¡É which she sang at the Opera House in Essen. Another guest appearances led her to the Teatro Colon and the Semperoper Dresden, and in March 1993 she made her debut at the
Staatsoper in Vienna as Konstanze. Besides her opera engagement she ordinarily appears in concert¡¨in ¡ÈElias¡É in Salzburg under Wolfgang Gunnenwein, in Mendelssohns Symphony No.2 ¡ÈLobgesang¡É at the Bach Festival in Braunschweig, in h¡Ýmoll Mass at the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspielen, in Rossinis Petite Messe Solenelle in Frankfurt/Hessian Radio production, and she has been repeating guest play at the Schubertiade Feldkirch.
She returned to Japan with her husband Uwe Heilmann in 1996. Since then, she has started her career in Japan, giving duo recitals with Heilmann and collaborating with some of the leading orchestras in Japan including NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. In July 2002, Ms.Nakamura performed the title role in ¡ÈMadama Butterfly¡É under the baton of Myung-Whun Chung ( organized by the Japan Opera Foundation) to high acclaim. In May 2004, Gary Bertini invited Ms.Nakamura as the first soprano for the performance of Mahler¡Çs Symphony No.8, with Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra and she received favorable review from critics.The performance was recorded and has been released as a CD.
Ms. Nakamura has recorded Beethoven¡Çs Symphony No.9, Haydn¡Çs ¡Èthe Creation¡É, and Britten¡Çs ¡ÈWar requiem¡É among others.
Currently she is a professor at Okinawa University of fine art and a
guest professor at Kagoshima International University.
