Born in Hiroshima, Japan in 1989, Rika Masato began playing the violin at the age of three, and has studied with distinguished violinists/teachers such as Teiko Maebashi, Chihiro Kudo and Koichiro Harada.Rika Masato has been the semi-finalist at prestigious international competitions including Wieniawski International Junior(03), Long-Thibaud(05), Mozart International(06), and won the third prize at Paganini International Violin Competition in 2006.
Being one of the most promising young violinists in Japan, Rika Masato has played with both international and national orchestras such as Moldova Philharmonic Orchestra, Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. Her debut recital at the Tsuda Hall in Tokyo in May 2007 was enthusiastically received and critically acclaimed. Rika Masato has also appeared in TV and FM radio programs. The engagements for 2011-12 season include concerts with Nagoya Philharmonic and Osaka Philharmonic who re-invited her after the successful concerts in August 2010.
After graduating from the Toho Gakuen Music High School with the highest distinction in 2007, Rika Masato moved to Paris to study with prof.Roland Daugareil (Concertmaster of Orchestre de Paris) at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) and completed the master degree with the first prize as well as with the prize ¡ÈFrancoise DOREAU¡É in 2011.
